Florence Fontilea Uy, 72 years old, passed away on May 10, 2023 in Castro Valley, CA.
Florence Uy was born in San Narciso, Zambales to Silvestre Fontilea and Francisca Fermil Fontilea on May 12, 1950. She graduated from Nursing school in Martinez Memorial College, Class of 1972. After graduating, she moved to California with her siblings. Florence got married on July 5, 1986 to Jaime Uy and they have one daughter named, Tricia. She worked at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Pasadena CA, and Greater El Monte Community Hospital until 2017. Florence loved to cook. She was the family chef during the holidays, graduations, birthdays and most family gatherings. Everyone who has tasted her dishes were astonished that she could cook that good considering that she was not a professional chef. Everyone will truly miss her food, especially the family. Besides cooking, Florence also loved to travel with family and friends. Her latest travel was in Dubai and Egypt with her sisters.
Florence is survived by her husband Jaime Uy, her daughter Tricia Uy, in addition to her brother Naz, and sisters Mimi, Ely, Mila, Rosie, and Bella. She will be dearly missed by all, including her large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand-nephews. Especially her grand-nieces, Cameron and Charlie who she loved so much and spoiled them dearly.
