Florence Mendonca's Obituary

Florence "Flo" Mendonca passed away Saturday May 23, 2020 at the age of 90. She was born January 29, 1930 to parents Ida Piazza and Philip Cortesi in San Francisco, CA. A graduate of Mission High School class of 1948, she enjoyed going to dances where she met her soon to be husband Frank at the Ali Baba and married in 1950. Florence worked 25 years at Wells Fargo Bank starting as a Teller working her way up to Assistant Manager. After retirement she enjoyed beginning each day with a 3-mile walk with her husband around Lake Chabot. She was a caretaker for her mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Amy and Philip, and started taking yoga. She was a volunteer at Kaiser in Pleasanton, CA as well as the California Highway Patrol in Castro Valley, CA. She had a vibrant personality, a welcoming smile and made many friends.
Florence was preceded in death by parents Philip and Ida Cortesi, Husband Franklin “Frank,” and is survived by twins Gary (Lisa) of California and Barry (Debi) of Tennessee, 2 grand children Amy (Jonathon) and Philip (Victoria), 3 step grandchildren, Trina, Brian and Lisa, 2 great grandchildren, Ryan and Marina and 7 great step grandchildren, Ava, Austin, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Todd, Blake and Crystal.
A private graveside service will be held at Hayward Chapel of the Chimes. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Weingarten Children’s Center 3518 Jefferson Avenue Redwood, City, CA 94062.
