Fidelina Contreras' Obituary
Fidelina Contreras was born on May 21, 1937 in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico. She passed away passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on March 11, 2024 in Palo Alto, CA. She was 86 years old.
Fidelina was a faithful and loving wife, who was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Eliezar Contreras. She is survived by her 10 children, 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She loved her family and friends. When visiting with them, her warm smile, sense of humor and love would brightened the room.
She always looked outward to serve and help others as she was able to. She had an impressive set of skills from parenting, farming, raising livestock, cooking delicious meals and administering life saving medical aid. In fact, people from neighboring ranches would travel to see Fidelina for vaccines, emergency injections and first aid. She would even run from one ranch to another if a patient was too ill to travel.
Fidelina loved playing Loteria! She was a worthy opponent, who would gladly accept piles of quarters after a winning round. But she really loved Loteria because it brought family together to laugh, eat and share memories — sometimes for hours.
She aged with grace and dignity, faithful to Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother. She was cared for in her home by loving and dedicated family. In spite of her ailments, she would greet her visitors with a warm smile and hug, and then with a blessing, “Que Dios te Bendiga,” before they left.
Fidelina’s strength, love and faith lives on in everyone who came to know her. We ask that you please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers, reflect on how she has touched your own lives; and in doing so, keeping her spirit present with us always.
