Fern Mary Jones' Obituary
Fern Mary Jones 1925 – 2008 Fern Mary Jones was born on March 13, 1925. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2008. She was 83 years old. To the people who knew and loved her she was known as Mia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jones Sr., her daughter Theresa Gomez, her brothers Gene and Gordon, and many others who surely greeted her upon her arrival in heaven. She is survived by her son Thomas Jones, Jr. and his wife Shirley, her grandsons Mike Mitchener and Scott Gomez, granddaughters Tina and Tiffany Merkel and Yvonne Minyard, and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fern met her husband, Thomas Jones, Sr., in Alameda when she was 18 years old and married him 6 weeks later. They remained married for 55 years until his death. She worked as a secretary for Southern Pacific Railroad for 47 years, her one and only job, to which she was late only one time! Fern was full of life and she loved to be around her family and friends. When she was alone she enjoyed spending time on her computer and playing her canasta. She was a member of St. Edward for many years. Fern will truly be missed by all who knew her. There is a Visitation Wednesday, October 22nd from 4:30 to 8:30 PM, Rosary at 7 PM at Chapel of the Chimes. The funeral is Thursday, October 23rd at 10 AM followed by the committal service also at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward 94544. Chapel of the Chimes 510-471-3363
