EZRA EMANUEL NELSON's Obituary
Ezra Emanuel Nelson Ezra E. Nelson was born February 27, 1924, on Prince Street, Berkeley, and passed away March 15, 2015, at home, on Moraga Way, Orinda.Ezra was the youngest child of Charles Anton and Karen Marie (Maridal) Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Earl, Mabel, Clyde and Clara. Also, his first wife, Aleda J. (Dooley) passed away in 1995. Graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1941.He worked as a machinist for Hexcel Corporation, Berkeley then as a US Postal Service letter carrier out of the Orinda Post Office and retired in 1989.Ezra joined his wife Margaret as a member of Sun Valley Bible Chapel in Lafayette in 1997.He loved local history and wrote articles for the Orinda Historical Society newsletter. Ezra has been the subject of several historical stories, as he was the oldest original resident of Orinda. He grew up in “The Old Yellow House” on Moraga Way, then completed the bungalow next door and lived there his entire adult life.He worked on many stone bridges and other structures with his father in Orinda area.Ezra is survived by his son, David Ezra and Carolyn (Knapp) Nelson, Evergreen, CO, granddaughters; Robyn (Gary) Glover, Arlington, TX, Courtney Nelson (Conor Poull) Dallas, TX, grandsons; Grayson, Jacob and Noah Glover.Ezra’s second family began with a joyous marriage to Margaret (Mori) Ellingson, on January 4, 1997. Her family became Ezra’s and surviving are Fred and Leslie (Webb) Ellingson, Walnut Creek, Mariko and Jon Klopstock, San Ramon, and Bert Ellingson, Orinda, grandsons, Tyler Ellingson, Samuel and Shane Klopstock.Nieces and nephews include Carol Arnett, San Jose, Lavonne (Arnett) Wardlaw, Napa, Judy (Nelson) Notary, San Rafael, Nancy, George Nelson, Chico and Henry Munsterer, Moraga, CA.A graveside service is scheduled for March 20, 10:30 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission BLVD, Hayward, CA.A celebration of life will follow at 2:30 p.m. Sun Valley Bible Chapel, 1031 Leland Drive, Lafayette, CA. 925-934-1378.Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Paul and Vickie Gizzi of Mission Athletes International, maisoccer.com, or Daniel and Georgiana Eakins, CMML, Inc, P.O.
