Evelyn Yvonne Lovett's Obituary
Evelyn Yvonne Townsend, referred to as “Pee Wee”, was born September 12, 1955, in San Francisco, California to the late Melvin and Earline Townsend. She accepted Jesus Christ in Oakland, California and was baptized at the Greater Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church as a public confession of faith in Christ by the late Rev S.J. Scott until God called her home.
Evelyn received her education in the Oakland Public School system and graduated from Castlemont High school. After graduation she was briefly employed by Breuners Furniture Company, and retired with 30 years of service at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) company, and Union Bank.
Evelyn united in holy matrimony to Wardell Lovett on June 30, 1979. To this union 2 children were born.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and homemaker. She enjoyed shopping on QVC and catching all the black Friday sales, which resulted in her husband being one of the best dressed men at NASA Ames for many years. She would light up with a big smile when she walked around her house telling you about all the decorations she had purchased from QVC and would always tell her sisters “I got one for you too”. When she departed, she was truly at peace with herself and with God. Though on earth, she is no more; in memory she will forever be with us and will remain in our hearts.
Evelyn departed this life July 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Earline Townsend, her brothers Donald Davis, Vernon and Bobby Townsend, and nephew Keith Davis.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Wardell Lovett; daughter, Alisha, and son, Shawn (Heidi) Lovett of Union City, CA; four grandchildren, Kameron Smith of Mountain View, CA, Elianah, Josiah Lovett and Daniel Quintailla all of Union City, CA; two brothers Melvin Jr. (Jean) Townsend of Oakland, CA and Carl (Robin) Townsend of Richmond CA; two sisters, Debra (Andrew) Warner of Carson City, NV and Cookie (Spurgeon) Lovett of Murrieta, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
