Evelyn Arlene JacksonWidowed of Glenn Rayburn Jackson mother of Redgy Jackson and daughter Pat BarteBorn in Enid,Oklahoma, June 12,1925 father Rev. Ray Gilbert Trent mother Grace E. TrentShe was raised with three brothers; Harold,Ray, & Lindy, and sister Anna. Her Dad encouraged the family to be musical. The boys each learned a band instrument, while mom and her sister played the piano. Her Dad brought the family from Enid to Oakland, CA in 1940 where he pastored the United Brethren Church. The boys married; and mom did likewise to pop on March 11, 1945. Redgy was born in 1946 and Pat 1947. Her mom, dad and sister returned to Enid in 1947.Mom and Dad moved from house to house in San Leandro. She was a homemaker and helper to my father’s sales business. He would leave on a Monday early and travel as far as Bakersfield selling furniture to local furniture stores. Then by Friday, off to San Francisco and the Furniture Mart. Meanwhile mom raised us two kids, prepared center pieces and nut cups for ladies lunches at Neighborhood Church, and prepared lessons for kindergarten class she helped supervise at church. To escape the telephone, many times we headed Friday night and Saturday to Mt. Hermon, then back for church Sunday. Later mom and dad acquired property on Clear Lake and the Salton Sea. So summers at the Lake, winters at the Sea. Each place Mom continued quilting and playing the piano. Her last two years were spent in Castro Valley at Baywood Court. She was well cared for and loved by many new and old friends.
