Evelyn McBride Grover's Obituary
Mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother and friend, Evelyn McBride Grover passed away on Thursday, October 25th at the age of 93. She would have been 94 years old on December 12th. Evelyn was born in Buffalo, New York, the second of four children to Clebert Lionel McBride and Bessie Laclaire Saunders. She was preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers, and by grandchildren, Monique Grover Loska and Steven Allyn Long. She leaves behind her daughter, Maureen Medellin (Alex) of San Pablo, granddaughter, Allison Medellin of Portland, OR and great granddaughter, Cora Parke of Pinole. Her son, Theron (Terry) Grover, Jr., wife Tricia, and grandchildren, Theron (Terry) Grover II, wife Jamelah, and great grandson, Chase Grover all of the Tacoma, WA area. Grandson, Brian Grover resides in Bothell, WA. Evelyn served in the US Army (Sergeant) as an Army Nurse and as a Secretary to the Colonel from 1945 to 1950. She met her husband, Theron E. Grover, a decorated war hero, in Germany in 1947. He passed away in 1983. Both of Evelyn's c children were born in Frankfurt, Germany. Evelyn worked as an Administrative Secretary for Jacuzzi Brothers in Albany, CA for 27 years and then after they relocated to Arkansas, for ComPath in Concord. After her retirement she was a volunteer at East Bay Hospital in Richmond for many years. Evelyn loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruising. She took many trips with her friends, children, and grandchildren. There were very few places in the world that she hadn't visited. She loved Art, History, and probably saw most of the famous places and paintings in the world. She loved reading, Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, crafting, scrapbooking and stamp collecting. She was known to be one of the most organized people in the world. A 71 year member of the International Women's Organization 'Beta Sigma Phi', Evelyn received their highest honor 'The Award of Distinction' in 2008.
