Evelyn Fisher's Obituary
June 08, 1932 – June 10, 2008 Resident of Fremont, CA Evelyn passed away peacefully Tuesday evening June 10, 2008. Her husband, Don Fisher, was at her side when God took her into His arms. She was greeted in heaven by her eldest son, Richard (Patty) Ulibarri; and by her mother, Juanita Swink; and father, Bethel Black. Evelyn will be missed by her sons Randy (Kathy) Ulibarri, Gary (Mary) Ulibarri, Anthony (Norma) Ulibarri, daughter Nancy (Greg) Stryker, as well as her ten grandchildren and one great grandson. She is survived by her two sisters, Dottie Wood and Luan Landresse, both of Los Angeles, California. Evelyn was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and as a young child moved to North Hollywood, California. Her father worked for Republic Movie Studios as a carpenter building movie sets. She and her sister Dottie enjoyed company parties where they met and were entertained by movie stars of the day. Affectionately called “Sissy” she was very loving to her little sister Luan, and treated her more like one of her own children than as a sister. Her father would later become an ordained Baptist Minister and raised his children according to church doctrine. Evelyn moved to San Francisco as a young teenager and graduated from Mission High School. She moved to Fremont in 1960 where she remained until her passing. As a young devoted mother, she worked long hours and shift work as a waitress to help supplement the family income. Providing for and taking care of her five children was very important to her. She was a loving wife to Don Fisher and she left us six days prior to their 44th wedding anniversary. Evelyn enjoyed camping, boating, the ocean, and was an avid reader of mystery novels; reading several books a week. She greatly enjoyed playing slot machines in Reno and Las Vegas where on many occasions, Lady Luck smiled upon her with large winnings. She will be missed by members of her family and cherished friends.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA. 94544. 510-471-3363
