Evelyn Agulto Abellera's Obituary
Evelyn Agulto Abellera was born on January 28, 1946 in Pampanga Philippines in Mabalacat to
Rosa David Agulto and Benjamin Agulto, Sr. She was laid to eternal rest on December 18,
2023.
She is survived by her devoted and faithful husband Renald Abellera, loving children Raymond
Abellera and Christine (Anhtuan) Abellera-Pham, and grandchildren Sophia (14), Mikaela (12),
Kina Brae (8) and Azalea (2). Evelyn also leaves behind her two dogs - Sexy and Summer.
Evelyn grew up in a family of eight brothers and sisters in Manila, Philippines. She started
school early and was a very diligent student. She graduated at just 15 years old from high
school, with not only high honors, but as a proud salutatorian (even though rumor says she
should have been the valedictorian). She then graduated from Adamson University in Manila,
Philippines in accounting, because majoring in accounting was her ticket to the US. Evelyn
eventually bravely immigrated alone to America for the land of opportunity to pave the way for a
better life for the rest of her family back home. She even started her own successful business in
accounting services that she owned for almost 40 years.
Evelyn met her husband Renald Abellera on a blind date at the movies in the US and 2 years
later married on November 17, 1977. They were married for 46 years, and during that time, they
traveled to 38 countries together such as Aruba, Egypt, Israel, Germany, Sweden, Australia,
Scotland, France and so much more.
Evelyn loved to plan parties and many civic functions from lavish fundraising events for Knights
of Columbus to the most memorable birthday parties with magicians, fireworks and DJ's for her
children. She received numerous awards from her years in Knights of Columbus such as
Columbian Lady of the Year (1994-1995; 1998-1999), Most Outstanding (1997-1998;
1998-1999), and Most Outstanding Couple. She enjoyed dancing, karaoke, and family
gatherings, especially Christmas and New Years being her top two favorite holidays. You will
always remember her tossing coins, jumping and shooting confetti at the stroke of midnight on
New Year’s for good luck and prosperity as she was a very superstitious woman. She did not
cook much, but the one thing we loved so much was her famous spaghetti. She never passed
on her secret recipe, but we will always have the fondest memories of it.
Evelyn will always be remembered as a selfless and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She
will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
