Eugenia M. Oporto's Obituary
The family of Mrs. Oporto humbly request all guests attending her services dawn bright colored attire to honor her love for all things colorful.
Eugenia is survived by her husband of 56 years Benjamin, her partner in all things for a lifetime of shared joys, their two daughters, Nancy and Sandra, two grandchildren, Isabella and Xavier, and daughter in-law Kimberly who carry forward her spirit, strength, and kindness.
She was a strong will and a fearless spirit that loved to wander and found her own way, from Santiago Chile to California via New York. She left her family, sister Lucy and her brother Manolo to work as an au par in New Jersey for a year, then made her way to Queens New York to work before deciding to leave her friends and move to San Francisco, California. In San Francico, she met and eventually married the love of her lifetime, Benjamin.
A natural artist at heart, Eugenia found joy in crafting and floral arranging expressive hobbies that allowed her to bring beauty into the lives of others. Her arrangements were known for their bold, vibrant hues, a reflection of her own bright presence and the way she moved through the world.
Those who knew her will remember her for her laughter, and her ability to make any space feel more alive simply by being in it. She loved to share her love of language, music, and the arts with friends a family. She found joy taking language and crafting classes, going to concerts and visiting museums. The love of art went hand in hand with her love of travel both with Benjamin and with her best friends she was able to visit other states and other countries.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Breast Cancer Research or Alzheimer’s Dementia Research in Eugenia’s honor, supporting a cause close to their hearts.
