Ernesto N. Cailao's Obituary
ERNESTO NAZARENO CAILAO was born on May 27, 1927 to DOROTEO and AURORA NAZARENO. In his youth he was a dedicated son, brother, student, and U.S. Navy sailor growing up in Naic Cavite, Philippines. The eldest of five children, he made his parents very proud by helping to care for his younger siblings, AIDA, MENANDRO, OFELIA, and ALICIA. After retiring from the Navy, he became a devoted husband and father. His adventurous spirit would take him and his family to America, where as a first-generation immigrant he worked hard as a U.S. Government auditor to provide for his family and nurture them to grow and succeed. He even sacrificed for his family by volunteering for work-related travels that would take him to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Okinawa, Japan; and even the Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean. So when it came time for him to retire again, there was no greater joy for him than to finally spend quality time with his loved ones. He would also become a grandfather and a great grandfather during this time. For someone who earned their post-graduate degree, served in the military during wartime, traveled around the world, and also beat cancer; he would be quick to tell anyone that his family was his greatest achievement and happiness. And for that we are all eternally grateful.ERNESTO passed away peacefully on April 26, 2017 in his home state of California, and he left us far too soon at the age of 89 years old. His bright smile and contagious laughter will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was both the family patriarch and our best friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years MARIA IMELDA; his three sons ERNESTO, JR., MICHAEL (and DARCIE), and CHRISTOPHER; his daughter BRENDA (and KEVIN); his three grandchildren TIFFANIE, JAMES (and CHRISY), and MAXIMUS ERNESTO; his two great grandchildren NATALIE and LUKE; and his loyal dog MICKEY.May God bless ERNESTO NAZARENO CAILAO’s soul, let perpetual light shine upon him, and allow him to rest in peace forever.
