January 27, 1926 – July 15, 2019 Ernest Lee Burkholder 93, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15 2019.Ernest (Joe) met Laurita (Teddy) Ann Tedesco I’m 1948 in Buffalo, New York. They were married on September 24, 1949. They are now dancing together again as Laurita passed on July 19, 2015.He is survived by his 3 daughters; Denise Fleming, Tracey Burkholder and Kelly Antonini. Son-in-law Dennis Antonini and honorary son-in-law Paul Rodriguez. 3 grandchildren; Samantha and Carl Davis, Jessica Cardenas and Michelle Cardenas, 3 great grandchildren; Alexandra Rodgers, Bryce Davis and Caesarius Cardenas.He is also survived by his excellent neighbors of over 40 years Jan and Garry Cunningham. They treated him like gold (Grandpa Joe) and Gary after mom died, never missed a day coming over to check on Dad at 4:00 p.m. and Jan sent multiple dinners for him to enjoy.Ernest was born in Amherst, New York and was raised by his parents Bertha Maud and Ernest (Bud) Lee Burkholder. He was the youngest of four. He had 3 sisters, Evelyn L, , Phyllis Jean and June Irene who have all preceded him in death.Ernest was a proud WW II veteran. Lived in Tonawanda, New York from 1949 until 1961. He moved to California and bought his house in Fremont in 1964. Ernest had a love for life. He enjoyed, with his wife, Laurita, since the mid 1970s, being active members of Prince of Peace Church in Fremont. Him and Laurita, square danced, round danced and bowled. He retired when he was 62 but became the house husband to Laurita until she retired at 75. He not only remained an active member of the church, he also volunteered 2 mornings a week at Kaiser hospital in Fremont until June of this year.Celebration of Life will be Saturday August 31st at 1:00PM, at Prince of Peace Church
