Erma Mae Hawley's Obituary
Erma “Davy” Hawley passed away peacefully on June 4, 2019 at the age of 91 after a short illness. She was born in Washington where she grew up before moving to California with her Mom and Brother, Mike, at the age of 16. She met friends there that she kept for her entire life. She met Howard “Dick” Hawley at High School. They married in 1949 and had three children, Jeffrey, David and Julie. They moved to Castro Valley in 1959 where they raised their family. She was a volunteer for Children’s Hospital Branches, Oakland Museum Art Exhibits and was a Pink Lady at Eden Hospital for many years. During her 59 years of marriage she supported Howard “Dick” thoughtout his career. After he retired, they traveled with friends to many places in the US and Europe. They maintained an active social life. After being widowed in 2003 Erma “Davy” kept busy with family and friends including the addition of 8 Great Grandchildren. She moved to an Assisted Living Apartment in San Ramon and made new friends. She was active with all the activities until she became ill in July. In August she moved back to Castro Valley to a Residential Care Home. During the last couple of months of life her health began to fail, and she passed peacefully.She is preceded in death by Ethel Lewis, her mother and Howard “Dick” Hawley, her husband. She is survived by her children Julie and Jeffrey Johnson, David and Sue Hawley, Jeffrey and Chris Hawley, her Grandchildren Clifford, Meagan, Clint, Derek, Olivia Hawley, Daniel and Eric Johnson and her Great Grandchildren, Liam, Morgan, Paige, Brooke Johnson and Makenna, Hattie, Priya, Nola Hawley.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Rooms of Hope, 231 Market Place #350, San Ramon, CA 94583. Services are June 29th @ 11:00, Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward.
