Erlinda Rosario Bautista's Obituary
Erlinda Rosario Bautista was called home, completing her life's work on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. She shared 81 years of her life with an abundance of family and friends and dedicated her life to providing care and support as a wife, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, godmother, volunteer, nurse, and companion.
Erlinda was born in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines on January 12, 1941 to Aquilina Manaois Rosario and Florencio Llamas Rosario, the first born of thirteen children.
She had a love of plants and wanted to be an agriculturist, however found more opportunity in nursing. She graduated from the University of Pangasinan, School of Nursing in 1964 and worked at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital. From there, work took her to Canada then San Francisco at St. Mary’s Hospital. Her career continued in San Diego at University Hospital, and eventually rooted herself in the Bay Area where she worked at Providence Hospital and Summit Hospital in Oakland. She was a Registered Nurse (RN), having worked in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) where she retired in 2007. She continued caring for the sick by volunteering for medical missions in the Philippines through the Philippine Medical Society of Northern California with her husband, daughter, sister Yvonne and brother-in-law Emiliano.
In 1966, she met Gerardo Bautista in San Francisco through mutual friends and married on December 5, 1970. She gave birth in 1972 to her only child, daughter Gail. Since Erlinda was the first Rosario family member to immigrate to the United States, she sponsored her parents, sisters, and brothers to join her in the Bay Area. One of her most valued past times was spending time with her siblings - getting together during holidays and events, celebrating birthdays, and going to the laundromat and favorite Japanese restaurant with her sister Lourdes.
Erlinda was an active member of the Santo Nino prayer group and The Dagupenians where she gained lifelong friendships.
She also loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night with her husband. The Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants were her favorite teams. She liked Steph Curry and didn't care for LeBron James. Her favorite musician was Englebert Humperdink. She adored her "granddog" Dallas and enjoyed cuddling and chasing him around the house. She looked forward to going to the Farmer’s Market every weekend and trips to the flea market. She made the best chicken adobo and pinakbet.
Erlinda was a private person, resistant to any of her loved ones worrying about her, yet she made sure everyone was taken care of. She lived life graciously, givingly, and humbly. She was simple but wanted everyone to live in prosperity.
She joins her mother, father, sister Josephine, and brother Robert who preceded her in rest. Her spirit will continue to live through her husband of 51 years, her daughter, her siblings Lou,
Yvonne, Rey, Minnie, Fe, Oya, Xenia, Bert, Gemma, and Frank, her in-laws, nieces and nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces, cousins, and friends.
