Emmanuel S. Sazon's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Emmanuel S. Sazon announce his passing on Sunday, February 16, 2025, in his daughter’s residence. He was 83 years old.
Born December 25, 1941, in Sto. Domingo, Nueca Ecija in Quezon City, Philippines, Emmanuel Sazon was the son of the late Florencio Sazon and Josefa Salamanca. At an early age, Emmanuel was driven to provide a better life for him and the love of his life, Elisa Sazon. He received his Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering with an associate degree in Surveying. He traveled to several countries including Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Singapore for his work as a civil engineer in order to send money back to the Philippines to take care of his wife and four young children. He eventually uprooted his entire family and moved to Zambia, Africa for his work until his contract ended four years later. He took his family of six and set off for other parts of Africa, and then through Europe. The family eventually made their way to the United States, landing in New York, where they then set off on a cross-country drive from New York all the way to California where they decided to settle and make their home in 1983. Emmanuel was a proud and very hard-working man. He supported his family by driving long distance daily while his wife stayed home to take care of the kids. He was in the construction industry as a civil engineer for 41 years. He took much pride in the work projects he was a part of, and often regaled the family with many stories of the high rise buildings that he took part in building in the countries he went to, his adventures during his days as a surveyor in Papua New Guinea
where he met natives in the rural mountains, and the gems he brought back while mining in Zambia. He was a good father and wonderful grandfather.
He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Elisa, who passed in February 2020. They were married for 51 years. He continued to plan events and gathered the family to honor her in the last five years.
Emmanuel S. Sazon enjoyed playing chess, table tennis, playing music, drawing, and painting, loved vibrant colored flowers, listening to Filipino love songs, crabbing, fishing, and planting.
He is survived by his four children, Emeliza, Emmanuel, Nick, Efa, and his ten grandchildren, Janelle, Brittany, Kiara, Nikolet, Emeliza, Isaac, Mia, Jada, Elyza, and Alexa.
Those who were fortunate enough to be touched by his kindness are invited to the funeral services held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on February 26, 2025, at 12:00 – 2:45 p.m.
