Emma Moller's Obituary
EMMA BURNETT MOLLER Passed away at the age of 98 on April 2nd, 2007 with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Moller and her five brothers and sisters, William Burnett, Thomas Burnett, James Burnett, May Burnett and Edith Burnett Mears. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Marlene Gold and her adoring granddaughter, Amy Crown. Emma was born in Moyvore, County Westmeath, Ireland in 1909. At age 11 she left her parents to immigrate to America with her aunt and uncle. She loved to sew and began her working life as a millinery. the depression struck and she lost her job making hats. She felt fortunate in those hard times to find work as a telephone operator for AT&T in San Francisco. It was during this time that she began dating a young rancher from Castro Valley, named Bob Moller. She and Bob caused quite a stir in August 1935 when they eloped in Petaluma. The started married life in Oakland and eventually settled in Sheffield Village to raise their daughter, Marlene. In the 50’s the family opened a small grocery in Alameda. After Bob’s death in 1971, she lived with her sister Edith in San Leandro, until Edith’s passing in 2002. Then she came to live with marlene in Castro Valley. Emma enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and traveling; in fact just last December she attended a family wedding in Maui. The family requests donations be made either to Emma’s favorite charity, UCSF comprehensive Cancer Center(UCSF Box 0248-San Francisco, CA 94143), or Bay Area Community Services (P.O. Box 2269 Oakland, CA 94621) in support of services to seniors. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6th at 10:30 am at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward
