EMILY P. MONIZ EMILY P. MONIZ 1921 2006 Emily Moniz died peacefully at home, in Livermore on Monday, November 13, 2006 at the age of 85. Born and raised in Hollister she then moved to Hayward where she married and resided for 58 years until 2000. She was mother of and survived by Delores Duncan, Marysville, Mary Carrier and Judy Hall, Livermore, Madeline Zavala, Connie Albarico and Roberta Chew, Hayward. Mother-in-law to Ira Duncan, Marysville, Ray Chew, Hayward and Irene Moniz, Brentwood. She is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years Marion Moniz, companion Glenn Ringland, her sons Frank and John Moniz, son-in-laws Frank Carrier, Ramon Zavala and Steven Albarico. She is also survived by many 17 grand, 34 great and 4 great-great granchildren. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Emily, her parents, Leocadio and Constance Paredes, along with her 4 brothers and 1 sister, worked in Hollister as sharecroppers and farmers. She was a canner on Cannery Row in Monterey, a welder in the shipyards of Oakland during WWII, she trained to be a nurses assistant and was a homemaker. Emily loved to dance and sing. She sang for the Lester Bishop band in the early 1940’s. She also starred in Spanish Lodge plays as a child. She was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49er fan but her greatest passion were her children and their families. Family and friends are invited to attend the vigil and memorial service Monday, November 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. Mass Tuesday, November 21st at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bedes Catholic Church, 26950 Patrick Ave., Hayward, followed by gravesite service at Holy Sepulchure Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
