I knew Emily for over twenty years. I first met Emily when I began workingat Selix Formalwear in Hayward. She was always so fun to talk to and weoften ate lunch together. Later when I got married and started a family,we still kept in touch. She always cheered me up when I was down andshe always seemed to know just what to say. I am very sad to hear of Dorothy’s passing and so sorry for your loss. We grew up having Dorothy living across the street from us. We grew up surronded by amazing ladies. There was Dorothy, Connie, Nellie, and my mom Betty. (all the single ladies way ahead of their time) Plus there was also Jackie & Art. It was a great place to be, and to grow up among so many watchful eyes. I Grow up knowing Her. Since I lived across the street.She and My Mom Connie were best friends. They had a lot in common and always were there for each other. She loved mexican food and My Mom would always cook extra food especail chili rellenos for her. As I grow up and left home. I always kept in touch. I’ve known and loved Mrs. Gardner for almost 50 years. I thoroughly looked forward to long chats with Mrs. Gardner at every one of Michelle’s parties and I enjoyed how she would enthusiatically bring me “up to speed” on everything that was going on in my old neighborhood:-) What an amazing lady!!!
