Emelia Ponio Tolentino's Obituary
Emelia Ponio Tolentino, passed away peacefully at her home in San Lorenzo, CA on February 7, 2017 at 6:23 AM at the age of 80. She was born on July 9, 1936 in Pantoc, Abra, Philippines to Santiago and Pascuala Ponio. At the age of 13 she moved to Alcala, Pangasinan with her older sister Dalen. She spent her adult life in Alcala where she met her husband Benjamin “Doming” Tolentino. They got married on June 1, 1955 and were blessed with 8 children. She was a homemaker and sacrificed a lot to provide for the family.Emelia (also known as “Meling” by her family) came to the US in 1991 and lived in the Bay Area with her husband and five daughters. She loved to cook and watch her soap opera shows. Spending time with her family meant the most to her.She is survived by her husband Benjamin R. Tolentino and seven children: Benjamin Jr. (Benjie), Baltazar (Talyong), Merlita (Patty), Flordeliza (Oyeng), Paulita (Oyet), Shirley (Selling) and Melinda (Dang); in-laws: Emmanuel (Boy), Al, Rosita and Dolores; grandchildren: Tracy and Ross, Margaret, John Paul, Nikko, Tashkeen, Monica, Ronnie and Ynez; great grandchildren: Abigail, Matthew and Reginald.Emelia lived her life to the fullest until her last day with her family. She is the definition of unconditional love, the highest degree of strength and the greatest example of perseverance. She brought so much joy and will truly be missed.Her services will be at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. The visitation is from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017. The final service is from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM on Monday, February 20, 2017.
