Elvira Eclevia's Obituary
With great sadness, the family of Elvira (Elvie) Sales Eclevia, announce her passing on March 3, 2021, at the age of 82. Elvie had been in and out of the hospital since Summer 2020 and finally succumbed to her long-term illness at Vallejo Kaiser Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Sales Reyes (Maria Reyes), stepdaughter Nannette Santos (Frank Santos), stepson Marcell Eclevia (Monica Eclevia), and grandchildren Anthony Michael Reyes, Andrew Goldstein, Gian Guerrero, Siena Santos, Madeline and Maya Eclevia.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marcelo Eclevia; parents Cecilio Albano Sales and Lourdes Garcia Sales.
Elvie was born on January 27, 1939 in Manila, Philippines. She attended University of Santo Tomas and graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Upon graduating she worked as an accountant at The Development Bank of the Philippines. In 1978 she made the journey to the United States with her son, Tony, and made California her home. She had lived in the Bay Area since 1983.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Elvie had taken the role of matriarch of the family and was a mother figure to her nieces and nephews. To those who reached out to her for help, she was especially loving and supportive, and offering assistance how ever way she could became a priority.
Elvie was a fervent mahjong player and in any city she lived in, she had a way of making friends with others who shared her passion. She never had a dull moment when it was mahjong time.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
