Elmer Costes Tabanao's Obituary
Elmer Costes Tabanao, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep with family at his side on Thursday, January 29th. He was born on February 18th, 1943, to his mother, Hermosenda Costes, and his father, Genovevo Pasana Tabanao. After losing his father early in life, Elmer was raised by his mother and later moved to Manila with his sister, Delia, to continue their studies. He was the eldest among six siblings: Delia Tabanao (Virgilio Hidalgo), Renato Tabanao (Vilma+), Leila Gavino (Herminio Trinidad), Alma Gavino (Alejandro Mellizo+), and Efren Gavino.
Elmer married the love of his life, Alicia, and together they shared 57 inseparable years. They built a beautiful family and were blessed with nine children. Elmer worked as an Elevator Technician and Electrician, providing with dedication and quiet strength. He was a reserved and gentle man, known for his understanding nature as a father and for the deep love he carried for his family.
He enjoyed music throughout his life—especially singing karaoke and playing guitar. Surrounded by friends and family was where he felt most at home, and his warm, steady presence will be greatly missed.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Alicia; his nine children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. His children include:
Randy and Maricon; Elmer Jr. and his wife Lailani and their children Lawrence, Laimer, and Christian; Jericho and his wife Marlyn and their children Bryan and Jirah; Dennis and his wife Maristela and their children Mara, Mecy, Zach, Moses, Andrea, and Samuel; Ella and her husband Mark and their children Isaiah and Alaistair; Sharon and her husband Edmon and their children Alonzo and Kyler; Ronald and his wife Jolaine; John Michael and his wife Kriselle; and James Ryan and his wife Elaine.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 13th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, February 14th, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
