Ellen K.Y. Mau's Obituary
Ellen K.Y. (Won) Mau born June 6, 1931 in Honolulu, HI passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 19, 2008. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth, sons Rodger (Jing), Byron (Ann Marie), and Kevin (Lee Anne); sisters Shirley (James) Harshey, Lotus (Hideo) Yamamoto and predeceased by her sister Dorothy (Edward) Lau; grandchildren Courtney, Erin, Holly, Kenneth, Julia and numerous nieces and nephews. Ellen worked as a San Mateo County Children's Protective Services Supervisor for San Mateo County for 26 years prior to purchasing the Sunflower Café in Downtown San Mateo. She was a volunteer and surrogate choir Mom for the Peninsula Musical Arts Association and a longtime volunteer at Highlands Elementary School. A Memorial Service will be held at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 3900 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo on Saturday, June 28 at 1:30pm. Casual or Aloha attire. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
