Elizabeth Patricia Hamby's Obituary
Elizabeth 'Pat' Patricia Hamby, passed away on July 12, 2002 at the age of 79 at Kaiser Hospital in Hayward, California. She was born on August 9, 1922 in the District of Columbia. She spent her childhood in Pennsylvania and Florida. She joined the Core of Engineers in 1940 in Fort Peck Montana where she married. Elizabeth later moved to the West Coast and settled in Hayward, California where she raised her three sons, William, Rodney and James Gehlen. She worked as a Secretary for the Independent Order of Foresters and for Parkland Convalescent Hospital. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Hamby, her sister, Cecille Plummer, and her son, Rodney Gehlen. She spent her retirement years in Union City, California where she enjoyed reading, movies and spending time with her grandchildren and neighbors. Elizabeth is survived by two sons, a stepdaughter, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
