Elizabeth Ann Gaylord's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Gaylord passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 89, in Fremont, California.
Born on February 25, 1936, in the Philippines to Joseph Acchote and Clothilda De Ocampo, Elizabeth was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters: Kelly Gaylord McCormick; Vanessa Gaylord Alo (Tim Alo); and Charlene Gaylord Shires (Dennis Shires). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Ryan McCormick (Sarah McCormick), Kevin McCormick, Kerry Melelani McCormick (Oscar Gutierrez), Brandon Gaylord, Jordan Cravalho, and Logan Shires; as well as four great-grandchildren: Jackson McCormick, Charlotte McCormick, Isabella Gutierrez, and Eliana Gutierrez. Elizabeth is also survived by her siblings: Geraldine Young, Eduardo Luna (Barbara Luna), Shannon Feliciano (Monica Feliciano) and DeeAnn Weber (Mark Weber).
As a young child, Elizabeth courageously guided her family through the jungles of the Philippines to avoid capture during WWII. Her family was ultimately rescued by American soldiers and transported by ship to Oahu, Hawaii, a testament to her resilience and bravery.
Elizabeth shared twenty-seven years of marriage with Charles Gaylord. Together, they established Gaylord’s School of Karate, where she played a pivotal role in its founding and success, managing the school for many years. Later in life, she worked as an Electrical Technician, demonstrating remarkable skill, intelligence, and dedication.
Above all, Elizabeth was a devoted and supportive mother. She took immense joy in encouraging her daughters in all their pursuits—including karate, sports, and cheerleading—and could always be found cheering them on at games and events. Her unwavering support, love for her family, and inner strength will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
