Elisa Cuevas' Obituary
Elisa Fajardo Cuevas was born on July 25th, 1926 in Las Pinas, Philippines, to the union of Silvestre and Rafaela Fajardo. Elisa was the fourth of their eight children. Caring and compassion came naturally to her, as she spent much of her youth selflessly helping her parents raise her younger siblings. She gave birth to her first child with Bernard Miller shortly after the end of World War Il. In the coming years, she met and married Juanito Cuevas. Elisa and Juanito eventually had six children together. To support her family, she set up her own tindahan in her neighborhood, along with several other ventures. In 1974, at the age of Forty-eight, she immigrated to the United States, where she found an apartment in San Francisco in preparation for her husband and children, who joined her a few years later. After many years working in San Francisco and Oakland, Elisa retired at the age of sixty-two to help care for her grandchildren.Elisa spent her later life with frequent visitors coming to see her in Oakland, CA. Her favorite activity was gathering with her family to enjoy Dim Sum in Alameda on Saturday Mornings. On behalf of our family, we wish to express our utmost gratitude for all the love and support you have extended to us in this difficult time. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believed in me will never die.” John 11:25-26
