Elinor Brady Freitag's Obituary
ELINOR BRADY FREITAG died July 28, 2004 at Kaiser Walnut Creek Hospital following surgery for a fractured femur. Born October 29, 1912 in Rensselear, Indiana, the only child of Jesse and Stella Brady. Brought to California when she was ten weeks old, first to Stockton and then grew up in Oroville, California. She graduated from the University of California, class of 1933. She was married to Julius H. Freitag, U.C. Berkeley Professor until his death in 1985. She raised her family first in Kensington and then Berkeley and has resided in Rossmoor, Walnut Creek since 1987. She is survived by her four children, Marian Halden of Piedmont, Don Freitag of Richmond, Norman Freitag of San Lorenzo and Douglas Freitag of Berkeley, four grandchildren, Katherine Morehead of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Dewey Halden of Pleasanton, Carol Rachwald of Oakland and Mathew Freitag of Long Beach, four great grandchildren, Katie and Mallory Morehead, Nicholas Rachwald and Sharon Lynn Halden, her sister-in-law, Elsie Lamoureaux, her niece, Elsa Roussel, and nephews, Paul Freitag, Clifford Lamoureaux and Mark Lamoureaux and her caregiver Anita Cabrera. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 3:30 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, viewing on August 2, 2004 from 5-8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Julius H. Freitag Memorial Award, C/O University of California, Division of Insect Biology, 201 Wellman Hall, #3112, Berkeley, CA 94720-3112.
