Elinor Couts' Obituary
Elinor J. Couts “Doll” January 21, 1922 – July 5, 2016Elinor was a ray of sunshine that brought light and love to all her family and friends. Doll was born in Oakland and lived on the family ranch in Colusa, CA until moving to Oakland in 1936. In 1938, she met the love of her life, Herman, and, in 1940, the two married. In 1956, the moved to Castro Valley. Herm and Doll enjoyed five trips to Canada and many road trips on the motorcycle. They spent most summertime weekends on their houseboat with family and friends. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; daughter, Bonnie L. Bruckner; her brothers, Raymond and Richard Tate; her sister, Roberta Vosburgh; grandson, Gary l. Chiaverini; and her nephew, David Vosburgh. Elinor leaves behind her son, Dennis D. Couts; grandchildren, Michael P. Spencer, Ricky Bruckner and Jamie Couts. Elinor is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Shayla and Nick Chiaverini, and Austin M. Bruckner. Private internment at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Family and friends are invited to Elinor’s Celebration of Life luncheon on Saturday, July 23, at 1 p.m. at Dino’s Restaurant, 20390 Lake Chabot Road, in Castro Valley.
