Efrand Alvarado's Obituary
Resident of Union City June 18, 1931- October 3, 2008 Efrand Alvarado, also known as “Jo” by his grandchildren and “Al” by his clients, passed away on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 77 years of age. Efrand was born to Donaciano & Trinidad Alvarado on June, 18, 1931 in Lyons, Kansas. He moved to the Bay Area at a young age and graduated from Washington High School in Fremont in 1949. Efrand worked at Mack Truck for 13 years as an electrician and was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW). After his retirement, he began his own part-time business, Al’s Pneumatic Tools. While fixing pneumatic tools was a hobby of his, he also enjoyed going on trips with his wife, gardening, and working around the house. But more than anything, he loved to be surrounded by his family. Efrand is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Delia; his children, Efrand of Pine Grove, Theresa of Union City, and Jesus of San Leandro; his grandchildren, Robert, Ryan, Christopher, Gabriel, Nathan, and Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Angelo, Robert, Reuben, Christopher, Xavier, Andruw, Alex, and Aubrianna. He is also survived by his sisters, Tomasa Alvarado of Union City and Katy Godinez of San Jose. Efrand is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Demetra Gonzalez and Lupe Augmon, and his brother, Ramon Alvarado. For those wanting to remember Efrand, please join his family on Wednesday October 8th, in the Mission Chapel at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA. Viewing will begin at 5:00pm with Services to follow at 7:00pm. Thank you to all who have been such a loving part of Efrand’s life.
