Eduardo Mariano's Obituary
Eduardo Crisostomo Mariano, age 89, of Union City, California, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Eduardo will be remembered for his courage, generosity, and unshakable love for family.
Born on October 19, 1935, in the Philippines, Eduardo made a life-changing decision early on that would define his legacy—he willfully and bravely enlisted in the United States Navy, driven not by ambition, but by love. His service was not only a commitment to this country, but a personal mission: to create a better future for his parents and siblings by bringing them to the United States.
Senior Chief Mariano served 21 years with honor and purpose, exemplifying resilience and dedication. His sacrifice laid the foundation for generations to come, offering opportunities he never took for granted.
Beyond his service, Eduardo was known for his warmth, integrity, and quiet strength. Whether sharing stories of the sea or guiding loved ones with patient wisdom, he carried himself with humility and grace. He was actively involved with the community by serving and volunteering with the Fil-Am Veterans and the Bacooreans. Eduardo took his skills learned to work another 20 years at Valleycare Health System.
He is survived by wife, Mercelita, daughters, Melinda (Chris) and Melanie (David) and sons, Edgar and Edward (Shannon). Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren: (Kevin), Eduardo (Janice), Lanae, Darien, Joey (Ciera), Kayla, Bria and Mason, along with great-grandchildren; Evan, Ava, Hayden, Emery, Elijah, Alex, Jaxson, and Delilah. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa.
Though we mourn his passing, we find peace in knowing he is now reunited with beloved family who journeyed before him. Surrounded by the love of those who have passed, he is no longer alone but embraced by eternal warmth and togetherness.
