Eddie X. Ramirez's Obituary
Eddie X Ramirez was born on May 9, 1967 to his parents Martha Anchundo and Ruben Moran and raised by his grandfather Eli Ramirez Sr. and grandmother Juanita Ramirez. Eddie passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends on November 15th 2017.He is survived by his daughter Andrea Xochitl Scott, his stepfather Frank Avila, sister Felicia and her fiance John McCaffrey, sister Veronica and her two sons. He is also survived by his aunt Rosie Baker and her husband Steve Baker (whom Eddie lived with for the last 7 years), uncle Eli Ramirez Jr and his wife Rosemary Ramirez, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, and even more friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Martha Anchundo, Father Ruben Moran, grandfather Eli Ramirez Sr., and grandmother Juanita Ramirez.Eddie is someone who many people can say they have met or know personally. But beyond that he’s an unforgettable member of the Ramirez family; a father, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend of many. He was raised by Grandpa Eli and Grandma Juanita for most of his early life, which is also why he always said he’s the most authentic Ramirez in the family. But because of that he became someone to confide in, argue with, learn from about music, or just talk smack to. You can say he’s been a jack of all trades. He’s been a paper boy, a counselor at James Logan High School, a leader at the YMCA in Point Bonita, and spent the last three years tending to the elderly at the Park Central Care and Rehabilitation Center where he also got to care for his mother, Martha. Don’t forget to also add DJ, amateur street racer, go-kart and mini-bike racer, amateur chef, and dancer to his talent list! And on top of all of those things, he was a loyal activist for Xicanos, and stood up for preservation of the culture of all indigenous people. At times he’s called a radical or anarchist, but those who do are small minded (even though he once protested against the Taco Bell Dog!) He did a lot for his fellow Xicanos and his community of Decoto whom he held close to his heart, right next to family. He also raised a smart, strong and perseverant daughter. Anyone who knew him then saw that he was a great teacher to Andrea and loved her dearly. He’s the person who encourages you to speak up for yourself or someone else. He’s the person you want to see at every party and the reason why you would end up staying longer than you expected. He’s one of the strongest members in the Ramirez family, and he taught others that they can be too. Eddie is referred to in the present tense a lot in the above description– that’s no mistake. For he lives on in all of us, in our memories, our beliefs, the depths of our hearts, and our souls. He was always strong, tougher than nails (literally Grandpa Eli took a nail out of his back and he didn’t need no hospital visit!) . He will always be the person we’ll think of when we’re on Facebook, or listening to music, and at family parties. Despite the fact that he’s gone, he set us all up to only remember the good times and the happiness he gave us with his presence. And as he always told us, “I want nobody to be sad when I’m gone but to celebrate the fact you got to live with me!”–Love ForeverEddie X Ramirez Family
