Earl W. Amos' Obituary
Earl W. Amos Resident of Hayward Aug. 20, 1921 – Oct. 11, 2008 Earl Passed away suddenly of a heart attack early Saturday afternoon. He was a WWII veteran, serving aboard the USS Chilton as a Motor “Mac”, 2nd class. He was a 53 veteran of the IAW Union Lodge#1414, working in San Francisco and Oakland. He was a proud and loving step-father to Ed Baker, Rae Maeder and Judy Stalnaker and natural father to Helen Finch, Hazel Amos and Earl Amos, Jr. through his marriage to Jean Amos, who passed away in 1973. Earl met and married Joyce (JO) Amos and together they had one child, Peggy Amos. He was grandfather to Laurie Grahm, Noah and Hailey Finch and was a great grandfather to Jeffery and Jonathon Grahm. He loved the diversity of his family and reveled in their life’s accomplishments. His happiness was to be surrounded by his family and friends. Earl’s hobbies included NASCAR racing, bowling, camping, fishing, and music. Family and friends are invited to a viewing to be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA on Wed. 10/15/2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the Funeral Service on Thurs. 10/16/2008 at 10:00 a.m. with the burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1000 El Camino Real, Colma, CA, attended by the immediate family, however all are welcome. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Earl’s home in Hayward at 3:30 p.m. to celebrate his life.
