Doyle Lee Cole's Obituary
Jan 23, 1916 – Oct 7, 2008 Resident of Hayward Doyle Lee Cole, aged 92, passed away in Hayward, California on October 7, 2008. Doyle was born on January 23, 1916 in Wetumka, Oklahoma. During WWII he worked in the Richmond shipyard, later returning to the Bay Area with his family. He retired from McGuire and Hester after thirty years and remained a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, Local 342, for over sixty years. Doyle’s wisdom belied his lack of a formal education. When faced with a tough challenge, he met it head-on and without complaint. He was always ready with his toolbox to fix anything, anytime and was willing to help anyone who needed it. It wasn’t unusual for neighbors returning home to find their lawns mowed or their recycling bins put back in place. He was well-loved in the neighborhood where he lived for 44 years. Three wives preceded Doyle in death: Lorraine, Clara and Ruby, each of whom he nursed through long illnesses. He also saw the passing of his infant daughter, Patricia; his daughter, Nancy Carol; his son, Fred and grandson, Bradley. Doyle is survived by his son, JC (Daryl), his daughter Nancy (Robert), daughter-in-law Karen and son-in-law Robert. He was a loving grandfather to Karen (Pete), Kathy (Gene), Michael (Nellie), Holly (Tim), Nancy, Kim (John), Terri, Wendy (Brett), Kevin and Brien. In addition, Doyle is survived by 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Please join the family for services honoring Doyle’s life at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA. 94544. Visitation will take place Sunday, October 12 from 5:00 – 8:30 P.M. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, October 13 at 1:30 P.M. with interment to follow. Chapel of the Chimes 510-471-3363
