Dorothy L. Hubbard's Obituary
Dorothy Lee Hubbard
March 16, 1928 – June 2, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend. Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and loyal friend. She especially liked to play card games and dominoes, entertain and cook, and was known for her exceptional baked goods. She was the embodiment of Southern hospitality and charm.
Dorothy was born on March 16, 1928, in Redwater, Texas to her parents Mary and Edgar Jaggers. Shortly after graduating from high school, in search of adventure and opportunity, this young country girl moved to California. Shortly thereafter, she met and spent 4 years married to Raymond Rebhahn.
In 1963, she married Doug Hubbard and they moved to Castro Valley. After a rewarding career at Owens-Illinois Glass Company, she and Doug moved back to Texas and created a “home base” in her hometown of Maud, where they enjoyed reconnecting with family and friends. Dorothy and Doug reveled in traveling around the United States. During their travels they discovered a small town in Apache Junction, Arizona. They loved their community in Arizona and decided to remain there until Doug’s passing in 2006. Dorothy then divided her time between Arizona and California, but eventually moved back to California to be closer to family. She lived happily and independently at Sycamore Place in Danville for several years where she formed further close bonds.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Debra Rebhahn and Lisa Trevizo, son-in-law Jimmy Trevizo and grandchildren Kendra Spencer, Michael Trevizo and Amanda Trevizo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Doug, and brothers James and Billy Jaggers.
A private graveside service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on June 25, 2020 at 2pm. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Magnolia Gardens and Advent Hospice Care for their love and compassion during the final months of Dorothy’s life. They were truly our angels!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
