DOROTHY R. FURTADO's Obituary
Dorothy R. Furtado Born 10/3/1916 – Died 6/8/2013 at age 96. Dorothy was born in Stuttgart Arkansas to Arthur and Irene Rhodes. She grew up helping customers in her father’s laundry and dry cleaning business. She then went on to attend Mechanical drafting school and worked in that career for her entire working life. Her pride in that career was assisting in re-designing a tomato harvester. In 1948 she met the love of her life, George Furtado, who was born on April 8, 1919 in Makaweli, Hawaii, and preceded her in death in 2003. They had one child Janet who is married to son in-law Mike Nelson and are survived by her, 2 Grandsons Wayne and Brian Nelson, as well as 3 Great Grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Cayden, and Aliyah Nelson. She spent most of her life making other people laugh with her silly antics. She loved to travel, and enjoyed many hobbies like playing her organ, listening to music, dancing the Hula, and many different arts and crafts. She thoroughly enjoyed her life with friends and family. She will be missed by many. Services will be held on June 23, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of the Chimes on Mission Blvd Hayward, CA.
