Doris Fincher's Obituary
Doris Mae Fincher Oct. 7, 1917-Feb. 28, 2010 Resident of Hayward Doris Mae Fincher passed away in the early morning of February 28th, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones. Doris was born and raised, a Southern Bell, in La Grange, Georgia, where she married the love of her life, her late husband, B.V. Fincher of 60 years and moved to Alameda, CA to raise their three children; Faye, Linda, and Jim. The Finchers moved to Hayward in the 1960’s where they resided ever since. Doris was a member of the Bakery and Confectionary Union for 20 years and retired from Miss Saylor’s Chocolates. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, ceramics and spending time with family and friends. Many enjoyed her southern hospitality and cooking. Her loving husband, B.V. Fincher, son David James Fincher, sister Evelyn Tally, brother Roy Lane Oliver, and son-in-law Harry William Hoffman preceded Doris. She was a loving mother of Marion Faye Hoffman, Linda Ann Gould and son-in-law Jim Gould. She was a cherished grandmother of Julie Warda, Janice Martinho, Robin Hill, Robert Laverne, David and Benjamin Mayhew. Proud great- grandma of Sarah and Christopher Martinho, Justin and Jacob Bass, Grace Laverne and Tyler Mayhew. Our loving mother, grandmother and friend will be missed and forever in our hearts. Services will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward.
