DONNA F HOOD's Obituary
Donna Fay Wapelhorst was born in Scribner, Nebraska and moved to California as a young girl in 1939. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1949. Soon after, Donna got married and started a family. It wasn’t until her kids were nearly grown, and on their own, that she finally pursued the nursing career she had always dreamed of. About that same time, she met Thomas Hood, and they were married in 1977. She was a devoted wife, mother, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma until the day of her passing. Her last words to all of her family and friends were “I love you very much.” And that she did.Donna was also devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ and her church, The Bay Area Baptist Church, in Fremont. She lived out her faith by selflessly caring for others, especially for her friends in their time of need. Donna also loved being around children. In earlier days, she was a devoted Sunday School teacher and saw to it that her family was raised up in the way of the Lord, which bares much fruit to this day.Donna is survived by her husband, Tom, her three children, Susan, Linda, and David, her two step-daughters Vicki and Carol, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Donna is pre-deceased by her brother Lowell and her parents, Emil and Edna Wapelhorst.A memorial service will be held Friday, July 6, at 1pm, at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., in Hayward, CA. A reception will immediately follow the service at Bay Area Baptist Church, 2929 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA.
