Donna Furber's Obituary
DONNA LOUISE PURTEET FURBER DONNA LOUISE PURTEET FURBER 1926-2006 Resident of Danville Died on December 15, 2006, just short of her 80th birthday. She was born on December 18, 1926 in Jefferson City, MO to Donald Purteet and Irean Whitworth Purteet. She completed two years of college at the University of Missouri at Columbia in Journalism. She worked for 25 years as a legal secretary both in Chicago and San Francisco. She married to her dear husband, Frederick Furber, for 32 years until his death in 1982. Her greatest joys in life were her dear mother, her brother, Joe; and her granddaughter, Katharine. She had a bright, lively mind and quick wit. She loved poetry, literature, politics, traveling, San Francisco, and especially anything French. Surviving are her loving daughter, Charlotte Canning; her granddaughter, Katharine Canning; her son-in-law, Rick Canning; Sadie Canning, mother of Rick; Dorothy Crowell and Florence Smith, sisters-in-law; Rosemarie and Dennis Pennepacker and Louise Chapman-Reinhard, dear friends. She will be greatly missed bay all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21st, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Danville, with the Rev. Kathleen Trapani, officiating. Donna always had a heart for the poor, so, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her favorite charities: Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly, Chicago, IL; St. Anthony Foundation, SF, CA; or the Salvation Army.
