Donald Ray Halbrook's Obituary
Donald R. Halbrook Sunrise- June 9, 1933 Sunset- September 30, 2011 Resident of Hayward Donald R. Halbrook passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Hayward, California. Don was born and raised in Granite City Illinois. Don enlisted in the United States Army where he served three consecutive tours of combat duty in Vietnam during the war along with varying tours in Germany, France, Japan and Korea. He retired as a Chief Warrant Office IV after completing 21 years of active duty. Don married the love of his life Sonny Halbrook in 1974. In 1978 they made San Francisco their home. He later made a career at GTE Government services where he made lifelong friends and was able to travel the world as a civilian. Don enjoyed his weekend outings with his daughters, and spoiling his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Connie Halbrook and Thelma Halbrook. Don is survived by his loving wife Sonny Halbrook, Brothers, Russell and Ross, Daughters, Beth Goss, Tracy Carrell, Connie Ann Halbrook and Carolann Yusi, Son, Anthony Daniel, Son-in-laws, Donald Gilbert and Nick Yusi, Daughter-in-law Tracy Daniel, Grandchildren, Niko Yusi, Kylea Halbrook-Gilbert and Ella Ray Yusi. Friends and family are invited to Don’s service at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on the 6th of October 2011 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. He will be laid to rest at a California National Cemetery.Published in Inside Bay Area on October 5, 2011
