Don ErlandsonMay 17, 1930 – November 30, 2018Resident of FremontDonald F. Erlandson passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 in the comfort of the family home in Fremont, CA. Don was born in Aberdeen, Washington to the late Phil and Lulu Erlandson and he spent most of his childhood in the Pacific Northwest.Don served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa. In 1955, he graduated with a Business Degree from Western Washington University, and in 1957 became a schoolteacher in in Hayward where he spent the majority of his career teaching mathematics.In 1963, he married Marlene (née Pellegrini), and moved to Fremont in 1964. Don especially enjoyed basketball and for over 20 years he coached both boys and girls CYO teams at Holy Spirit in Fremont. He enjoyed bowling at Holiday Bowl where he organized a popular teacher’s league. He will be remembered as a devoted father, a patient coach, and eager volunteer.Don was preceded in death by Marlene Erlandson, his wife of 53 years. He is survived by his children: Judy Erlandson (Tim Williams), and Ron Erlandson (Pam); and grandchildren: Paige Erlandson, Daniel Erlandson, Morgan Williams, and Lindsay Williams.A memorial ceremony will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10 am at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Don to the charity of your choice.
