Don Ellis Barker's Obituary
In loving memory of Don Ellis Barker, 77, of Fremont, CA, who passed away on August 17, 2018, in San Leandro, CA.Don was born in Arkansas on March 28, 1941, to parents Calvin and Ruth Barker (both deceased). He lived there as a child and eventually moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California with his parents.Don served in the United States Army and also served in the United States Army Reserve.Don was employed by AC Transit for 44 years.Don is survived by his 7 children: Donald Fecko; Christopher Fecko; Sharlonda Barker; Mallory Luscher; Renata Clayton; Forest Barker, and Barry Barker. He is survived by 8 grandchildren: Jacqueline Petricka; Mark Tift, Jr.; Daniel Tift; Tabatha Clayton; Robert Clayton; Candi Russin; Justin Barker, and Landen Barker. Don is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, many cousins, a large church family and a plethora of friends.Don is known for his extreme kindness to others; his mentoring of people in the church he attended; also serving as a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. Don enjoyed the outdoors, often camping with the Boy Scouts or with his family. He loved going to the park, bringing a bucket of chicken and pop for a picnic. Don had a great sense of humor, slightly twisted sometimes, but enjoyed teasing people and playing practical jokes.Don was laid to rest beside his loving wife, Dale Jean Barker (Cearley) on August 24, 2018, at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA, with his children and a few friends present.A Celebration of Life will be held on September 8, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 42500 Gatewood Street, Fremont, CA 94538. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
