Don Aduviso's Obituary
Don Sepagan Aduviso, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on November 2, 2019. He was 84 years old.Don was born on December 10, 1934, the 4th of 11 children to Pedro and Patricia (nee Sepagan) Aduviso, and grew up in Nabua, Camarines Sur region of the Bicol Peninsula. He joined the US Navy in 1954, bravely serving on aircraft carriers and earning his US citizenship. After surviving a major heart attack, and receiving an honorable discharge in 1973, he eventually returned to work for the United States Postal Service, retiring from USPS in 1999.He met the love of his life, Aurora, in Jacksonville FL in 1963. After a whirlwind courtship, they married on December 19, 1964. They moved to California in 1966, and raised three children in Hayward. Don made a point to provide fun not just for his own children, but created joy for the kids of his neighborhood. He taught them how to ride bikes, play tennis, fish, and frequently transported them around in his huge Chevy pickup truck. He was many times the only dad at girl scout events, and snored through countless school concerts, waking up in perfect time to hear his own child perform. The son of a forester, Don also loved to grow plants – varieties of fruit and vegetables, but he specialized in beautiful orchids. He loved movies, especially Westerns, and watching all his local sports teams – in particular, the 49ers. He was a talented and bounteous cook, often making enough to feed a Navy ship regardless of the guest count. Don was also one of the first members of the Nabua Bay Area Club, where expatriots could connect and support each other in their new country. Don also participated in almost all of the club’s medical missions, always wanting to give back to his hometown.Don is reunited in heaven with his parents, and siblings Orlando, Lydia, Helen, and Rufino. He is survived by his beloved wife Aurora, his children Consuelo Brennan (Marshall), Don Pedro Aduviso, and LizaDawn Ramirez (Gil), his grandchildren Tiburcio Brennan, Ava Ramirez, and Evan Ramirez, and his siblings Ruben, Elvira, Aurora, Devie, Rudy, and Fe, and many nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart. We will miss your charm, your mischievous laugh, and most of all, we already miss the love you so generously gave us.
