Dominador Caoili Dicolen Mar. 24, 1929 – June 24, 2009 Resident of Alameda Mr. Dominador Caoili Dicolen (“Dom”), 80 of Alameda died peacefully on June 24, 2009 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Lydia for 54 years. Devoted father of Dom Jr., Tony, and Sal. Loving grandfather of Teresa, Andrea, Renee and Jasmine. Born on March 24, 1929 and raised in Batac, Ilocos Norte Philippines, Dom was the second child of the late Luis and Pilar Dicolen. He graduated from the University of the East (Philippines) with a BS in Accounting. After a short stint as a CPA civil servant in Manila, he pursued his true calling and joined the US Navy. For over twenty years he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the military starting out as a steward and rising through the ranks to become a Storekeeper Chief Petty Officer. His tours of duty included assignments in various countries, including Japan, Taiwan, USA, Vietnam and the Philippines. After receiving an honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1979, he became active in his community and joined several local and veteran organizations. He was a member of the Civil Service Board in Alameda for eight years. As an officer of the United Pilipinos of Alameda and the League of Fil-Am Vets, Dom worked tirelessly in many projects which included raising funds for earthquake/hurricane victims, advocating for veterans’ interest, and organizing community events. He was extremely well versed in veteran’s benefits and used that knowledge to advise and assist disabled veterans and their families avail of their privileges. Dom will always be remembered as a caring and loving father whose first and foremost goal in life was to provide for his family. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday evening, June 30, 2009 from 4:30 to 8:30 PM in the Reflection Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on July 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St Albert the Great Church,1022 Holly St. at Mecartney Rd Alameda CA. 94502.
