Dennis Alan Knab's Obituary
Dennis Alan Knab passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026, at the Fremont Health Care Center while under hospice care.
Born in Batavia, New York, to David and Shirley (Hoyt) Knab, Dennis was the youngest of five children. He attended James Logan High School and graduated from Tahoe High School.
A skilled craftsman, Dennis was a member of the Carpenters Union until his retirement. He enjoyed working with his hands and took particular pride in having worked on the construction of the new 49ers Stadium—a professional achievement that stood in contrast to his loyalty as a die-hard Raiders fan.
Dennis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, where he participated in the Men’s Group and provided volunteer support for various fundraisers and events. In earlier years, he also coached Little League for his son Robert and daughter Emma.
At home, he used his carpentry skills to build the gardening beds where his late wife, Peggy, grew her vegetable garden.
Dennis is survived by his children, Teresa Knab, Laura Johnson, Robert Knab, and Emma Knab; and his two grandsons, Callen and Cassius. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanne Murphey, Norma Lawrence, and Linda Salazar.
