Denise Angelitta Martinez's Obituary
Sis. Denise Angelitta Martinez was born on January 20, 1965 in Los Angeles, CA to Rose Mary and Curtis Piercell. She was the youngest daughter of 8 siblings, Debbie, Sharon, Mark, Steve, Neal, Butch and Gary. Her family moved to Hayward where she attended local schools and later studied at Chabot College. At the age of 20, Denise began employment with the U.S. Postal Service in Oakland, CA. Denise became an active member of the Hayward Apostolic Church where she met her husband James Martinez. They grew in love with the Lord and each other. They were married on October 27, 1990. She continued working at the Postal Service until their first child, James Jr. was born. It was their decision for her to be a stay-at-home Mom.It wasn’t long before James Jr. became a big brother to Joy and Elijah. As their children became school age, James and Denise decided that home schooling was best for their family. When the children misbehaved, she gave them the “look”. That’s all it took!Denise was an avid reader. She had a collection of her favorite author, Joy Haney. She enjoyed cooking for her family. One of their favorite dishes was beef caldo with a “special hot spice”, according to Joy. Joy goes on to say, “she really loved to shop at Macy’s. She had more shoes than me!”The day Denise broke the news she was given four months to live, James fell to his knees in prayer and held her close. Her greatest calling and gift besides, wife and mother, was the call of compassion. Denise graced the earth with God’s love and compassion. She will be missed.Services for Denise will be held at the Hayward Apostolic Church Abundant Life Center at 28436 Harvey Avenue, Hayward, CA 94544 on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11 AM. Burial to held at Chapel of Chimes, Hayward at 12:30 PM.
