Deloris Marie Pitts' Obituary
Palo Alto – Deloris Marie Pitts, 82, of Palo Alto, CA, passed away on October 25, 2024, 8:09 PM, at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. A Memorial Service will be held for her on Dec 6 2024, 12:00 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes Hayward at 32992 Mission Boulevard Hayward, CA 94544, followed by the inurnment. Deloris also known as “Lolo” to family and friends, was born on September 17, 1942 in Hammond LA to William Fleet Sr. and Ruth Odessa (Ard) Fleet. She graduated from Greenville Park High School March 24th 1961 and thereafter attended Katies’s School of Beauty Culture and Barbering where she received a license to practice as a Beautician. She enjoyed, many things over the years including having good times, especially with her high school buddies and later sister in-laws Jackie and Carolynn Fleet, family gatherings, gardening, her grandchildren, being humorous, long walks, good soul music, volunteering at the senior home where she lived, helping others in need, voting, the Golden State Warriors (diehard fan), watching tennis, collecting quirky containers to plant things in, watching her favorite musicals “The Color Purple”, “Stormy Weather” and “Hi De Ho” over and over and eating sugared strawberries.
Deloris had deep faith in and loved the LORD Jesus Christ. Her church home was Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Berkely California, with the Rev. Earl C. Stuckey Sr serving as Pastor. After moving to the Sacramento area, she began nurturing her faith with the Rev. Vernon Magee and spent 5 years on the Bible Bus studying the Word with him. She leaves behind a very cherished worn-out bible filled with notes and highlighted passages from Genesis to Revelations.
Though Deloris has transitioned to the heavenly realm, she leaves behind a legacy of upmost courage and strength and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughters, Andre Renee Fleet, Stacey Darnell Jefferson (David) and Latoya Pitts, sons Derek Darnell Pitts and Eric Earl Pitts, Granddaughters Avianna McMurrian and Jordan Nicole Jefferson, Grandsons Darius Darnell Pitts, Jervonte Montgomery, Ellis Hunter Jefferson, Nolan Jameson Marshall, Payton Michael Pitts and Brandon Marquis Beasley, Brothers Joseph N. Fleet, Sr., Virgil A. Ard, Herman Denham and Wardell Ard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Patrick J Ricks, and brothers William Fleet, Jr., Gerald Fleet, Lee Olden (Tee) Ard.
