Delbert J. DollarhideOctober 27, 1937 – May 7, 2016Delbert Joe Dollarhide, known as D.J., a resident of Union City, CA, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Fremont, CA at the age of 78 years old. Born on October 27, 1937 in Oakland, CA to Bernice and Si Dollarhide, D.J. had four siblings; Sisters Joann, Lois, and Connie and Brother Lloyd. D.J. is survived by his Wife of 53 years, Barbara Dollarhide. D.J. worked at General Motors – Fremont for 15 years and at NUMI for another 15 years. He also served in the United States Army for 3 years and for some of that time was stationed in Guam. As Deacon at Mission Valley Church of Fremont, D.J. was a very active member of his church community. D.J. was known to be quite a character. A tinkerer, he was lovingly referred to as ‘Inspector Gadget.” He enjoyed going to the coast, playing games with friends and family, going to the movies and watching classic westerns. He was known to be a very warm hearted, people person who never hesitated to start conversations with Strangers. He was survived by Wife Barbara, Daughter Cindy, Sons in Law Lupe and John, Grandchildren Joey, John, and David, Great-Grandchildren Angelina, Andrew, and Cynthia, Great-Grandson in Law Mol, Great-Great-Grandchild Malia, Sister Connie, Dog Squirt and Cat Boots. D.J. was predeceased by Daughters Shirley and Judy, Granddaughter Jennifer, Sisters Joann and Lois, and Brother Lloyd.
