Dawn Elizabeth Larsen's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Dawn LarsenDawn was born on June 5, 1939 at Mary’s Help Hospital in the City of San Francisco where she lived until she was five years old. Her parents were Esther and Arthur Parke. She was the first of five children; the others being Lynda, Larry, Jerry, and Roberta. She attended and graduated from San Lorenzo High School, Chabot College, and San Jose State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. After graduation, she began a career as a Contract Officer for the United States Coast Guard. She served for over 20 years and retired in the year 2000. After retirement, she remained very active. Her hobbies included, cross stitching, sewing, playing her accordion, exercising, traveling and spending time with family. Dawn and her husband Ralph lived in San Leandro for 40 years before moving to Modesto. Dawn and Ralph got married on August 3, 1956 in Hayward, California and were happily married for over 60 years. They have three children; Eric Larsen, Greg Larsen (Arlene) and, Leslie Eggert (Charles). They have four grandchildren; Christopher and Daniel Eggert, and Rachel and Kyle Larsen whom she loved deeply. Dawn raised her children as a stay-at-home mom because she cherished quality family time. She attended college classes when she was able to. College took her ten years to complete but she never became discouraged and graduated with honors. She was very proud to be able to serve her country with her position in the US Coast Guard. She started at the bottom and made advancements all the way to the classification of GS-12ST5. Dawn lived a wonderful, full life and is now watching over us from heaven.
