David De Leon Rodriguez's Obituary
Rev. David De Leon Rodriguez
Rev. David De Leon Rodriguez passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was an avid
reader, sports fan and had a love for music and current events. He also had an online ministry in
his later years keeping in touch with people, encouraging and advocating. Pastor Dave was an
excellent preacher and very poetic and articulate. He cared for young and old and brought the
Christmas Institute youth retreat to the US that continues today.
Pastor Dave began his ministry in the Philippines, then served the Fresno Christian Fellowship,
Calvary UMC, San Jose, Lakewood UMC, Sunnyvale, which later became Valley Faith UMC,
before serving as the Executive Secretary for Connectional Relationships, Liaison for
Asia-Pacific, GBGM. He then served as Oakland Chinese Associate before taking a leave, then
retiring in 2008.He is survived by his wife, Celia Rodriguez and by his children, Davidson ¨Sandy¨ Rodriguez of
Union City, CA, Shalom Joy Rodriguez Madarang of Union City, CA and Moises Nowell
Rodriguez of San Bruno, CA and by six grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held on
Friday, January 19, 2018 at Mission Chapel, Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA 94544,
and also on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at
St. Paul United Methodist Church, Fremont CA.
