David Melvin Hillman Hillman 1919 – 2009 Fremont, CA and Surprise, AZ Born December 31, 1919 in Alameda, passed peacefully February 26, 2009, in Surprise, AZ. Son of Samuel and Rose Hillman, brother of Bill (& Ellie) Hillman & Aaron (& Beverly) Hillman of Fremont. Married to Marian Hillman for 58 years. Father of Allan (& Sharon) Hillman, Don (& Charlene) Hillman, & Richard Hillman. Grandfather of Susan (& Mark) Johnson, Michael (& Diane) Hillman, Melissa (& Jon) Hillman, Becky (& Bobby) Stidham, Sam (& Melissa) Hillman, Daniel (& Danielle) Hillman, Debi (& Steve) Hewlett, Jennifer Ferolito, Justin Hillman, & Jonathan (& Amanda) Hillman. Great-grandfather of 26; beloved uncle & great-uncle to many. Served during WWII with the US Marines, 4th Marine Division. Worked in the family businesses; East Bay Iron & Metal Company, then Hillman Steel, & finally Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont, CA until his retirement. Was an accomplished & award-winning sculptor, working in clay & marble. His works were displayed at Desert Museum in Palm Springs & are featured in private collections all over the world. An avid golfer & bowler, his sporting accomplishments included a hole in one & a 300 game.
